Maidenhead Festival Sound Lab

🎶 Unleash Your Inner Musician at Maidenhead Festival Sound Lab! 🎶

This May Half Term, Maidenhead Festival invites you to dive into the wonderful world of music with our brand-new event, the Sound Lab — an exciting, hands-on musical experience for all ages!

📅 Dates: Tuesday 27th to Thursday 29th May 2025
🕙 Time: 10am – 3pm daily
📍 Location: Nicholson Shopping Centre, Maidenhead

What’s the Sound Lab all about?
Explore, discover, and play! At Sound Lab, you’ll get the chance to try a wide range of musical instruments – from the soaring sounds of the trumpet and trombone to the smooth melodies of the clarinet, saxophone, and flute.

Whether you're a complete beginner or just curious, come and get hands-on experience, learn how these instruments work, and find out how you can take your musical journey further through local lessons and support.

And it's not just for kids — adults are welcome too! It's never too late to find your musical spark.

Why join us at the Sound Lab?
🎵 Encourage children to explore music and develop new skills
👨‍👩‍👧 Engage families and younger audiences in the festival
🎶 Promote and connect with amazing local music education providers

An Inclusive Experience for Everyone
We’re proud to create a relaxed, welcoming space where everyone can enjoy the magic of music. Thanks to our friends at Berkshire Music Trust, we’re also offering a unique experience with the Cosmo Switch — a tactile, light-up device that connects to musical games on an iPad. Perfect for children and adults with additional needs, it supports motor skills, cognitive development, communication, and, of course, musical exploration through fun and play!

Discover the Joy of Making Music at the Power of Uke Workshops on Wednesday 28th May!
Join us for a fun, hands-on introduction to the ukulele led by the inspiring Tabitha Beaven, facilitator for Power of Uke. These lively workshops are perfect for complete beginners — you’ll learn how to hold the ukulele, name its parts, strum confidently, and play simple chords. By the end, you’ll be singing and playing along with others in a supportive, joy-filled group session! More than just music, Power of Uke taps into creativity, connection, and confidence-building, using the ukulele as a powerful tool to unlock self-expression. Whether you're 7 or 70, come along and experience how music can bring people together and spark something truly uplifting. Instruments provided — just bring your curiosity!
